Renter Assistance Funding Has Been Appropriated
Governor Whitmer has signed legislation appropriating over $282 million in renter assistance funding from the federal stimulus approved in December. The appropriation comes after legislative compromise on the amount of funding and is broken into two parts: Over $220 million in direct renter assistance and over $62 million for administration of the program. With the funding now appropriated, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) will institute the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA) program to deliver the assistance. AAM will advise you once the program officially starts, but it is expected to be up and running by late next week. In the meantime, I have included below the link to the MSHDA web page which outlines the new program.
